It's 2019! Who codes their own portfolio anymore?!

I was one of the first Squarespace adopters, for the first iteration of my portfolio when I was an undergrad student. However, years ago, I switched to coding my portfolio website from scratch–to show off my skillset. It never hurts to question your own process, and make changes…

So. Why’d I decide to go back to Squarespace after almost a decade?

Modularity. Flexibility. Reliability. SEO.

If any of my past work required coding, the work should speak for itself, I don’t need to code my own website from scratch, as if I were presently looking for front-end developer positions. For freelance clients, if selling them on adopting Squarespace is enough for them, it’s good enough for me.

If I have a sudden spark of inspiration for something I want to add to my portfolio, I can cut the time required to get it online in half. Squarespace is much more reliable than me in terms of keeping the code up-to-date and mobile friendly. And there’s much under the surface built in to help me out with SEO, something I admittedly do not know enough about.

With all of that said, I have a slew of blogs in the works that highlight my experiences during my growth as a designer, from school, first jobs, freelancing, and how I utilize design thinking in my daily life.
